The Town of Bonnyville is provincially funded to provide ‘Hub’ coordination and ‘Spoke’ parent services.

The Lakeland Family Resource Network Hub and Bonnyville Spoke are located in the Parent Child Centre with the Bonnyville and District FCSS.

Parenting Programs

Our Spoke strives to develop and strengthen parenting knowledge and skills. We work alongside parents and caregivers to foster positive family relationships while promoting healthy childhood development.

Triple P Primary Care:

  • For parents of children who have or are at risk of developing behavior problems.
  • The emphasis is on management of a specific child behavior.
  • A brief targeted prevention/early intervention for families with specific concerns about their child’s behavior.
  • This four-session program is for parents of children up to 12 years old.

Triple P Fear-Less:

  • A multi-level intervention for parents of children with anxiety.
  • The program helps parents understand the causes of anxiety and the role parents play in helping children overcome their anxiety.
  • Supports parents in teaching their children effective anxiety-management.

Active Parenting: For parents of children 5-12

  • Why children misbehave and how to redirect them.
  • Nonviolent discipline that really works.
  • How to build courage and character in your child.
  • Open up the lines of communication with your children.
  • How to prevent problems with drugs, alcohol, violence, and sex.

Active Parenting: For parents of children 0-5

  • Ages and Stages of development.
  • Building a strong bond.
  • Your child’s growing brain.
  • Choices and consequences.
  • 6 ways to prepare your child for school success.
  • Parents are provided with the skills and support to enhance their own health and well-being of their children.
